Monticello, FL : 23-year-old Robert Christopher Croft died and another one seriously injured in car crash into tree in Jefferson County on Friday morning, February 19, 2016

One person is dead and another is in the hospital following a crash in Jefferson County Friday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a crash near the intersection of W. Washington Street and Main Avenue near Monticello just before 7 a.m Friday.

According to FHP, a pickup truck headed westbound on W. Washington Street traveled across the eastbound lanes and onto the grass shoulder, striking a tree. The truck overturned before striking another tree.

23-year-old Robert Christopher Croft of Pinetta died at the scene. 20-year-old Jose Ryan Hernandez of Pinetta was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Jefferson County EMS assisted the Florida Highway Patrol in the investigation.
