Dowagiac, MI : Three injured in one-car crash northeast of Dowagiac early Tuesday, November 15, 2016
Three people suffered injuries in a one-vehicle accident northeast of Dowagiac early Tuesday.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, Tara Phillips, 28, of Dowagiac and her two children were injured after Phillips lost control of her car.
Police said Phillips was traveling west on Dewey Lake Street near Twin Lakes Road in Cass County’s Wayne Township at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday when she lost control, ran off the road and collided with a drainage ditch.
The driver and her children, a son and daughter, were taken by Pride Care ambulance to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac. Phillips and her son were treated and released, and her daughter was transfered to Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, with severe injuries.
Police did not release the names of the children.
The accident remains under investigation, but police have determined that the driver and her children all were wearing seat belts.
Cass County deputies were assisted by Pokagon Tribal Police and the Wayne Township Fire Department.
