A woman was hospitalized on life support after being struck by a pickup while skateboarding Saturday afternoon, police said.
Officers responding to the scene of an injury accident at 5:30 p.m. found the victim had been struck while skateboarding in the westbound curb lane in the 3100 block of East Admiral Place near Gary Avenue, according to a police report. The vehicle reportedly stuck the woman and then continued westbound.
The woman, approximately 21 years old, suffered multiple injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she was on life support at last report, according to police.
An investigation showed the suspect vehicle was a white mid-90s single-cab long-bed pickup; it possibly had a red or maroon right-front quarter panel and a chain for a tailgate, according to police. Witnesses said the truck was driven by a white male, possibly in his late 20s to early 30s.
