Titusville, FL : Teen killed in crash on I-95 on Friday morning June 27th 2014
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened on I-95 in Brevard County Friday morning.
According to FHP, Amanda Blackshaw was driving her 2004 Chevrolet Impala southbound on I-95 in the center lane. Troopers say John Jenkins was driving his 2002 Toyota SUV in the right lane, also traveling southbound.
The vehicles approached a 2005 Ford pickup truck that was disabled and parked on the right shoulder of the southbound lanes on I-95, Blackshaw traveled into the right lane for an unknown reason and her vehicle struck the left side of Jenkins' SUV before the right side of her Impala struck the rear of the disabled Ford pickup. The Toyota SUV came to a stop in the shoulder.
Three people were injured in the crash and transported to Parish Medical Center.
One of those injured was 13-year-old Colton Blackshaw of Titusville, who was later declared dead by medical staff.
Two northbound lanes were closed on I-95 near Titusville following the crash.
FHP investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash, and any charges are pending their investigation.
