Marysville, CA : Gridley man dies in Highway 70 crash on April, Thursday 13th 2017
A Gridley man died when the pickup he was driving slammed into the back of a big rig driven by a Live Oak man, the California Highway Patrol said Thursday night.
The accident happened at about 2:35 p.m. on Highway 70 just south of Arjay Ranch Road in Butte County.
The 21-year-old Gridley man was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup north on Highway 70 and failed to slow down or stop for traffic ahead of him that was stopped.
The Dodge crashed into the big rig driven by Roberto Zarcoramirez, 29, of Live Oak.
The pickup driver was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said. He would have survived the crash if he was wearing his seat belt, according to the CHP.
Zarcoramirez suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized.
The name of the driver who died was not released.
