A Mountain Iron woman and a Virginia man are dead after a two-vehicle crash on the Iron Range Sunday night.

According to the State Patrol, 73-year-old Carol Mattila and 79-year-old Gerald Mattila were traveling north on Spirit Lake Road just before seven p.m. when their vehicle pulled in front of a westbound vehicle on Highway 169.

Their vehicle hit the passenger side of the oncoming car.

The driver and passenger of the westbound vehicle are recovering from non-life threatening injuries.

Road conditions were wet at the time.

The Minnesota State Patrol had previously released a different name and age of the Buick's driver Monday morning.
