Erie,PA : Man flown to Erie following Chautauqua County crash on October, Saturday 30th 2017
A man was flown to UPMC Hamot for treatment and faces criminal charges following a pursuit in Chautauqua County on Saturday night.
Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies said Sunday that 30-year-old Heath E. Zawatski, of Randolph, New York, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, failure to comply and two traffic violations in an attempted traffic stop and pursuit that started in the Town of Ellery on Saturday at about 9:25 p.m. Deputies were sent to Dutch Hollow Road to investigate several complaints of a vehicle driven erratically and encountered the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Zawatski, failed to stop and attempted to evade deputies before the vehicle failed to negotiate a turn in the roadway and entered a ditch, where it overturned and pinned the driver, deputies reported Sunday.
Zawatski was freed from the vehicle and was flown to UPMC Hamot for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said. Information on Zawatski’s condition was not available Sunday.
