One person died when a car collided with a garbage truck near Highway 580 in Livermore on Saturday, officials said. Officers responded to Altamont Pass Road at Goecken Road shortly before 9 a.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Eric Anderson. A head-on collision occurred between a sedan and a garbage truck, he said. The driver of the sedan was partially ejected and was pronounced dead on the scene, Anderson said.
