2 killed after police chase in Pickens County ends in collision

The driver and passenger in a vehicle pursued by Carrolton police Saturday evening died after the chase ended with a crash, according to Alabama State Troopers.

Sgt. Steve Jarrett said the crash happened about 6:39 p.m. on Alabama 17 in Pickens County.

"Another passenger in the fleeing vehicle and an occupant of the second vehicle were transported to Pickens County Medical Center. Their injuries appeared to be non-life threatening. Nothing further is available as Troopers continue to investigate," Jarrett wrote in an email to AL.com.

Carrollton Police Chief Anthony Durram told Fox 6 the chase began after officers attempted to make a traffic stop.

As officers were calling off the chase, the suspects' car and another vehicle collided head on, that report stated.
