Oregon ,WI : Three People injured in two-vehicle crash on Early Saturday , August 22 2015

Three people were injured -- two of them seriously -- in a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning near Oregon, authorities say.

Around 5:51 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a report of a crash on Highway 14 near Hill Road in the Town of Rutland, said Lt. Dan Bolch, a spokesman for the Dane County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators say a car driven by a 21-year-old woman from Oregon was traveling east on Highway 14 when it crossed into the westbound lane of traffic, striking a pickup driven by a 37-year-old man from Beloit. The woman was taken to UW Hospital by helicopter for treatment of potentially life-threatening injuries, Bolch said.

The 37-year-old man suffered injuries that Bolch said are serious but not life-threatening. A passenger in the pickup also suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, Bolch said.

Authorities said they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, although everyone involved was wearing seatbelts when the crash occurred.

Highway 14 was closed in both directions for several hours, and an investigation into the crash is ongoing, Bolch said. Names of those involved in the crash have not yet been released.
