Delaware State Police say a pedestrian was admitted to a hospital in critical condition after being hit by a car in New Castle.
State Police said in a statement that a car struck the man around 8:30 p.m. Friday on North Dupont Highway just north of Hessler Boulevard. State Police say 60-year-old Michael R. Shuda of Wilmington was walking in the roadway when he was struck by the driver of a Mercury Sable. State Police say the driver tried to swerve but a collision was unavoidable. State Police say the driver stopped after the collision.
State Police say alcohol and speed are not factors in the crash and no charges have been filed.
