Mobile, AL : Officer Suffers Minor Injuries in 3-Vehicle Crash on Tuesday morning, January 20, 2015

A police officer was treated at a local hospital and released after he suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday morning, a Mobile Police Department spokeswoman said.

The officer was headed west down Dauphin Street in his patrol vehicle while responding to a call around 9 a.m., said police spokeswoman Ashley Rains. A driver apparently failed to notice the officer's flashing police lights and pulled in front of him at the intersection of Dauphin Street and Springdale Boulevard.

The cars collided and struck a third vehicle, Rains said.

"The drivers of the other vehicles were checked (for injuries) at the scene and released," she said. Authorities did not say what call the officer was responding to before the accident.

Officials did not expect any criminal charges to be filed in the collision.
