Yolo County, CA : One person killed in single-vehicle crash in Yolo County on Monday afternoon, July 21, 2014

One person died Monday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash west of Woodland.

California Highway Patrol spokeswoman Officer Joelle McChesney said a 2010 Ford Flex SUV was southbound on County Road 94B, just north of County Road 22, near the Wild Wings Golf Club and Yolo Fliers Club. The vehicle veered to the left across the northbound lane onto the shoulder where the front end struck a tree. The impact spun the vehicle around and it came to rest facing north in an agricultural field.

McChesney said a fire began in the engine compartment and spread to the passenger compartment.

The fire was extinguished and the driver extricated by the Willow Oak Fire Department.

McChesney said no information was available Monday afternoon regarding the driver, who died at the scene.
