TUCSON, AZ : One man arrested after one person killed, another injured in vehicle collision on Sunday, 21st February 2021
A man is behind bars after one person was killed and another was seriously injured in a crash on Sunday night.
According to Tucson Police Department officers, 24-year-old Reina Alexis Cota and a passenger were driving through the intersectin of South Cambell Avenue and East Bilby Road when the driver of a Jeep Cherokee ran a red light and hit them.
Police attempted to administer aid, but Cota died at the scene.
Police said a passenger was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver who hit them was identified as 39-year-old Jesus Ismael Rodriguez.
Police determined Rodriguez was impaired at the time of the crash. He was booked into the Pima County Jail and charged with second-degree murder.
