Oakley, CA : Bicyclist hospitalized after collision with a car on West Cypress Road Tuesday afternoon, July 12, 2016

A bicyclist was hospitalized after colliding with a car Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The vehicle and bike crashed around 2:37 p.m. about 100 yards from the intersection of O'Hara Avenue and West Cypress Road, said Oakley police Sgt. Rick Grubaugh.

"The bike was in or around the bike line and the car was driving the same direction," Grubaugh said.

The man was transported to the hospital for moderate head and neck injuries that are not life-threatening.

No other injuries were reported. The driver stayed at the scene of the crash and cooperated with police.

The intersection was closed for about five minutes after the collision.
