Sharon,OH : Vehicle catches on fire in Sharon crash on February, Sunday 11th 2018
A male driver whose name has not yet been released was transported early Sunday morning to the hospital following a crash on Sharon Copley Road near the fire station.
An Ohio Highway Patrol trooper said Monday night he couldn’t provide the driver’s name because the crash was under investigation. The driver, he said, was from the Wadsworth area and was in stable condition.
Township Fire Chief Robert Haas said the department received the call at 12:23 a.m., and the driver had to be extricated from the vehicle after the fire was extinguished.
“The extrication times as I recall were quick,” Haas said today. “They did a rapid extrication because of his trauma situation.”
According to the fire department, the vehicle knocked over a tree, went airborne and hit a second tree before catching on fire and landing on its roof after rolling.
Haas said the driver was transported to Akron General Hospital.
