A sport utility vehicle passenger killed when the vehicle collided with a pickup truck in Dane County was identified by the medical examiner's office Monday as Leon Benton, 35, of Madison.

The crash was reported shortly after 7:30 a.m. Friday in 2000 block of County Highway N in the Town of Pleasant Springs, according to the Dane County Sheriff's Office.

The Mercury Mountaineer in which Benton was riding was southbound on County Highway N when the driver, a 44-year-old Madison woman, lost control and slid into the northbound lane, where the vehicle was struck by a pickup truck mounted with a snow plow, according to the sheriff's office.

Another passenger in the SUV, a 7-year-old boy, was injured in the crash, which remained under investigation Monday, authorities said.
