Two people were injured Wednesday in a crash 3 miles south of the Timmerman rest area, 13 miles south of Bellevue.

About 5 p.m., Geraldine Helm, 49, of Twin Falls, was driving south in a black 2014 Volkswagen Passat while Daniel Jerke, 28, of Kimberly, was driving north in a red 1995 Ford Explorer, and the two collided head-on.

Jerke was taken to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center where he was in fair condition Thursday.

Helm was taken by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise where she was on critical condition Thursday.

Idaho 75 was completely blocked for about two hours while first responders from Wood River Fire and Rescue extricated Helm from her car. Traffic was diverted to Idaho 20.

The vehicles collided on the pavement but came to rest off the west shoulder of the highway. Both vehicles had extensive front-end damage and air bag deployment. This crash is still under investigation by the Blaine County Sheriff's Office, and no citations have been issued.
