Escalon, CA : 1 killed, 5 injured in 6-vehicle crash on Hwy. 120 in Manteca on Wednesday, October 5, 2016
A man was killed and five other people were injured in a six-vehicle crash on eastbound Highway 120 in Manteca, the California Highway Patrol said Wednesday.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. CHP said the five other drivers -- two men and three women suffered injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
The crash happened about 5:05 p.m. Monday when a row of five vehicles were stopped on eastbound Hwy. 120 at Main Street.
The driver of a 2014 Peterbuilt big rig was driving on eastbound Hwy. 120 when he saw the row of cars, tried to stop, but could not slowdown in time, officers said. He crashed into the back of a 2015 Chevrolet utility truck, causing it to crash into the back of a 1991 Honda Accord.
The impact from the Peterbuilt truck caused the utility truck to go airborne and land on its roof, CHP said.
