PHOENIX, AZ : On-duty Phoenix police officer critically injured in crash on Thursday, 19th July 2018

Authorities say an on-duty Phoenix police officer is hospitalized in critical condition after a car crash and has undergone surgery for undisclosed injuries.

Police didn’t immediately identify the injured officer Thursday afternoon.

They say the officer was in an unmarked car and was leaving a police substation on North Cave Creek Road when the collision occurred.

They say driver and passenger in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Police say an investigation into the collision is ongoing.
