Columbia , MO : Motorcyclist was critically Injured after He Struck a Vehicle at Route K on Saturday , January 24th 2015
A motorcyclist was in critical condition at an area hospital after the Missouri State Highway Patrol said he struck a vehicle at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday along Route K south of Columbia.
Patrol Sgt. Matthew Broniec said the male motorcyclist was in critical condition shortly after colliding with a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old girl. He did not know the extent of the girl’s injuries.
Broniec said the side curtain airbags deployed on the driver’s side of the car and that the motorcyclist was headed westbound at the time of the collision.
The motorcyclist appeared to be speeding, Broniec said, but he was wearing a helmet. Broniec said the man was sent to University Hospital. He did not provide names of any parties involved in the collision.
Traffic was dramatically slowed along Route K near the crash site while the Boone County Fire District cleaned up the scene.
The girl involved in the accident was pulling out of Timber Ridge Drive on her way to work, a woman identifying herself the girl’s mother said. The woman said her daughter was driving a new 2015 Nissan Altima at the time of the accident. She said she could hear the crash from her nearby home.
