A baby was on life support early Sunday morning after a car crash in Lincolnton.
The 1-year-old was transferred to CHS-Lincoln with life-threatening injuries on Friday afternoon after the SUV it was riding in was rear-ended on South Generals Boulevard.
The accident happened near Arbor Run Drive. Lincoln County EMS and the Lincolnton Fire Department were the first responders on the scene.
The vehicle was stopped for a funeral procession when it was hit by another motorist. The child was eventually flown to a Charlotte hospital.
According to Capt. Brian Greene, the Lincolnton Police Department, with assistance from the North Carolina Highway Patrol, is investigating the crash to determine the cause of the accident. No names have been released. There were no other injuries reported.
