A Greenville man died this morning after the car he was in crashed in Connecticut.
Connecticut State Police say Fausto Rivera of Greenville was a passenger in a speeding car that lost control and struck a tree around 1:45 a.m. The crash happened on Route 8 in Shelton, which is about 10 miles west of New Haven.
State police say the 20-year-old Rivera was in the backseat of the Acura, and was thrown from the vehicle. He landed about 25 feet away and died at the scene, according to the crash report.
A passenger and the driver had to be freed from the wreckage.
Rivera was a former student at Pitt Community College.
State police say they are continuing to investigate the fatal accident.
