Dover, DE : Police investigating Dover construction zone crash that critically injured man on Thursday October 22 2015

The Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that sent two people to the hospital.
Police say that 86-year-old driver George Courtney Jr. was approaching an active construction zone in Dover on Wednesday afternoon when, for unknown reasons, Courtney drove past the flagman onto the grassy shoulder.
Authorities say Courtney then pulled back into the southbound lane and then crossed into the northbound lane where he accelerated and struck another vehicle head-on.
Police say Courtney, a Dover resident was transported to a hospital in critical condition. The driver of the other vehicle, 58-year-old Craig Burris of Camden, who was wearing a seatbelt, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
