St.Petersburg, FL : Father hits, kills daughter in driveway on Thursday night, September 25, 2014

A 1-year-old girl was killed Thursday night when the child's father backed an SUV over the girl in their driveway, according to police. About 6:52, p.m. police were called to 651 13th Ave. S., in the Bartlett Park area, where Kristian L. Brown, 22, backed a Dodge Durango out of the driveway and did not know Kriziyah Brown was standing behind it. Brown started to drive away, and made it several hundred feet down the block, before he heard the mother's screams to stop, police said. The child was seriously injured, and died at the scene. And the neighborhood is sharing the family's grief. "I know them the play with my great granddaughter, they're pretty good people. … very sad, very sad to be happening to a child," said Deloris Brinson. "We all lookout for each other's kids. it makes us all feel very sad tonight." The family has five children, and Kriziyah was the youngest. A police spokeswoman said the father might not have noticed anything under the wheels since the driveway is grass, then there is gravel and sidewalk so the bumps encountered when backing up might have kept him from determining the child was under the SUV.
