Maryville,TN : Girl, 11, taken to hospital after Maryville crash on September, Friday 15th 2017

An 11-year-old girl was taken to the hospital Friday evening after the vehicle she was in ran a red light and collided with another vehicle on West Lamar Alexander Parkway, police said.

Kelsey Dotson, 11, of Knoxville, was taken by AMR ambulance to University of Tennessee Medical Center, where her condition was not immediately known.


Dotson was a passenger in a 2005 Chrysler Sebring traveling east on West Lamar Alexander Parkway at around 7:10 p.m. when the driver, 32-year-old Knoxville resident Frances Dotson, ran a red light at the intersection of Old Glory Road, according to a Maryville Police report.

The Dotson vehicle collided with a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta traveling south on Old Glory Road. The Dotson vehicle ended up down an embankment in the median, while the Jetta, driven by Reagan Whitley, 16, County Farm Road, Friendsville, came to rest in the roadway.
