MIDLAND COUNTY, MI : 19-year-old dead, another 19-year-old arrested after deadly crash on Saturday, 17th August 2024

A 19-year-old man from Midland was arrested after a deadly crash claimed the life of another 19-year-old man over the weekend.

The crash happened at West Chippewa River Road east of Magruder Road early Saturday morning, according to the Midland County Sheriff's Office. The 19-year-old victim, who was riding in the passenger seat, was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash. The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

According to the Midland County Sheriff's Office, the driver of the pickup truck was traveling west on West Chippewa Road just east of South Magruder Road when it failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The truck went off the road and struck a utility pole and trees.

Both the driver and the passenger were from Lee Township.

The driver was arrested at the scene for an OWI accident causing death.
