A Shell Knob man died in a wreck on Wednesday at 11:40 a.m. on Big Creek Road in Shell Knob.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Michael Finney, 64, of Shell Knob, was driving a 1972 Chevrolet 1500 northbound when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and traveled off the left side of the roadway, then struck an embankment and overturned, partially ejecting the driver.
Finney was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:50 p.m. by Barry County Deputy Coroner Charles McManus.
Finney was not wearing a safety device, and the vehicle suffered extensive damage.
This is the 41st fatal wreck of 2016 for Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry and Lawrence.
