MORGANTON, NC : Bicyclist killed in Morganton crash on Monday, 23rd October 2023

A bicyclist was killed in a crash in Morganton Monday night, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on N.C. 18 near Zero Mull Road.
Highway patrol said a 2001 Ford F-250 was traveling south on N.C. 18 and was passing another southbound vehicle in a passing zone. As the F-250 was passing, it hit a bicyclist who was riding northbound in the road. The bicyclist was wearing dark clothes, the road wasn’t lighted and no lights were on the bicycle.
The bicyclist, Mark Anthony Mode, 43, of Morganton, died at the scene of the crash.
