Sandwich, MA : Five people injured in a two-car collision on Route 130 Saturday evening, April 30, 2016

Five people, including two children, were taken to Cape Cod Hospital after they were involved in a two-car collision on Route 130 Saturday evening, according to a Sandwich fire official.

Around 6 p.m., rescuers were alerted to the crash near the on-ramp to Route 6 eastbound, Sandwich fire Deputy Chief John Burke said. Two adolescents suffered multiple traumatic injuries, as did two of the adults, but none of the injuries were considered life-threatening, Burke said. Another adult had minor lacerations, he said.

Burke said the department checked on the availability of a medical helicopter but decided it was not needed. Bourne Fire Department helped Sandwich take the patients to the hospital.

The two vehicles in the collision sustained moderate to heavy damage.

The crash is under investigation by Sandwich police.
