Mitchell, S.D : One person dead in Mitchell after chase with officers an early Saturday morning, March 14, 2015

One person in Mitchell is dead following an early morning pursuit that police say ended in a deadly crash.

The Mitchell Police Division tells the Daily Republic that authorities attempted to make a traffic stop shortly after 2 a.m. Police say the driver refused to stop and led authorities on a chase.

They say the person then lost control and hit a parked car near the intersection of East Sixth Avenue and North Gamble Street. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is leading the investigation. No other details were immediately available early Saturday.
