Victorville,CA : Coroner ID’s Helendale man and Victorville woman killed in Hwy 395 crash on March, Wednesday 26th 2018

Authorities have released the identities of the woman and man killed in a head-on crash on Highway 395 on March 20.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Coroner’s division said Leslie Doss, 39, of Victorville, and Timothy Ellis, 36, of Helendale, died in the crash, which occurred on Highway 395 north of Colusa Road.

California Highway Patrol officials previously reported that Doss — whom they listed as an Edwards resident — was driving a Hyundai Sonata headed north while Ellis was headed south in a 2015 Chevrolet Captiva.

Doss was headed north at “an elevated speed” and crossed over double-yellow lines to pass two other vehicles when the crash occurred. CHP officials said both Doss and Ellis tried to turn their vehicles to avoid the crash, but were unable to.

Doss and Ellis were both pronounced dead on scene, officials said.

Doss was properly restrained, CHP officials said, but Ellis was not wearing a seat belt. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor.
