Montrose,CO : Woman dies in car crash on January, Thursday 18th 2018

One woman is dead and a man severely injured in a U.S. 550 crash that closed the road for several hours Thursday.

The Colorado State Patrol said a 67-year-old woman from Ouray was headed south on 550 late Thursday afternoon, when, at mile marker 110, her Honda Pilot apparently drifted into the oncoming lane and struck a Toyota Tundra that had swerved to avoid it.


An 89-year-old passenger in the Honda died, per the CSP. Her identity was not released Thursday night.

The 57-year-old Telluride man driving the Toyota was taken to the hospital with severe injuries.

Initial reports indicated the Honda’s driver was not injured. The CSP is investigating the crash, which closed the road until shortly after 7 p.m.
