Linton, IN : One deceased and one injured in a one-vehicle rollover crash in Sullivan County on Tuesday, April 4, 2017

At 6:18 a.m. Tuesday, Indiana State Police and Sullivan County emergency agencies responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash near 11555 South Old US 41.

According to a press release from Indiana State Police, preliminary investigation revealed a northbound 2013 Buick was exiting a left curve in the roadway, traveled off the east edge of the pavement and down an embankment. The Buick continued northbound in the ditch area, traveled over a private driveway, which ultimately launched the vehicle airborne. While in the air, the Buick struck a tree and rolled onto its top.

Evidence suggests both male occupants were ejected with one pronounced deceased at the scene and the lone survivor, identified as Samual Alan Mack of Vincennes, transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital with what is believed to be life threatening injuries. Mack is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries and his family has been notified.

The deceased has yet to be positively identified, but troopers believe they know his identity and have notified family members.

ISP and the Sullivan County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased victim’s information as soon as the positive identification has been made, which may take a few days.

Alcohol may be a factor in this crash.

The crash is being investigated by ISP Master Trooper Polly Blackburn. Assisting were ISP Crash Reconstructionist and Crime Scene Investigator Sergeant Jim Cody, ISP Sergeant Kris Fitzgerald and Master Trooper Tom Hanks, troopers from the Bloomington and Evansville Posts, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Sullivan County EMS, Sullivan County Coroner’s Office and Haddon Township Fire/Rescue.
