Crews have reopened the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 near Oltorf Street, but drivers should expect major residual delays.
A crash involving three semi-trucks shut down the interstate for most of the afternoon Tuesday.The northbound lanes of Interstate 35 have been shut down just south of Oltorf Street while crews work to clear a crash involving three semi-trucks.Police were called to the interstate just south of Oltorf around noon after receiving reports of the crash.
They arrived to find one 18-wheeler wedge between a concrete median on the road and another rig. A third was stopped behind the pair.
The wrecked truck had spilled fuel onto the inside lanes of the highway, and officers quickly began diverting all traffic onto the service road.Police said one of the driver’s told investigators brake failure caused the crash, but authorities have not yet confirmed the cause.
According to Austin police, one lane of the highway was reopened around 2:15 p.m., but crews are still working to reopen three remaining lanes.
Police said none of the drivers was seriously hurt.
