Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Two women are charged with driving under the influence in separate vehicle crashes in North Myrtle Beach, including one that injured officers.
Ila Raye Ward, 57, of Winnabow, N.C. was cited with first offense driving under the influence in a crash that happened Friday, according to a North Myrtle Beach police incident report released Monday.
Ward was driving a 2005 Chrysler Sebring east bound on Main Street about 10:55 p.m. when she struck a parked car. Her car rolled onto its roof and slid to a stop. She was transported to Grand Strand Medical Center in serious but stable condition and was charged with DUI a day later. Her condition Monday was not immediately available.
Hours later, North Myrtle Beach officers were working a minor crash at the intersection of U.S. 17 and Main Street when a woman hit a car and injured two officers about 2 a.m. Saturday.
Shanah Rachel Seneca, 34, of North Myrtle Beach was arrested on scene and charged with driving under the influence.
Seneca, according to an incident report, ran a stoplight east bound on Main Street, striking a vehicle that then ran into a police cruiser and hit officer Scott StClair in the leg. Seneca, who was driving a 2004 Honda Pilot, continued east, hitting officer Bobby Hall who flew about 15 feet onto the sidewalk before rolling to a stop on top of Hall’s legs.
Seneca left the car and attempted to hid in bushes near the scene. A third officer arrested her.
Hall and StClair were treated and released at Grand Strand Medical Center.
