SUNNYSIDE, WA : 15-year-old dies in fatal car crash in Sunnyside on Thursday, 13th September 2018

A Sunnyside teen died Thursday after the car he was riding in was struck by another car at the intersection of Independence and Scoon roads in Sunnyside.

Euriel Garibal, 15, was sitting in the passenger seat of a car driven by Devin McCardle, 18, of Outlook, according to a Yakima County Sheriff’s Office news release. They were eastbound on Independence Road about 6 p.m. when their car was broadsided by a car driven by Jose Argueta Sosa, 18, of Sunnyside.

Deputies said Argueta Sosa was northbound on Scoon Road and failed to stop at the intersection. His car struck the passenger-side door next to where Garibal was sitting. Garibal is believed to have died on impact, the release said.
