BIRMINGHAM, AL : Birmingham Police officer injured after crash on I-65 NB on Tuesday, 17th September 2024

A Birmingham Police officer is recovering after they were injured in a crash on I-65 North on Tuesday morning, Sept. 17.

The officer was working a multi-vehicle collision when their marked police unit was hit from behind, causing damage to the vehicle. The officer was inside the vehicle when it was hit, and was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. They were released later that afternoon.

A second officer was also on the scene, but was out of the vehicle.

BPD says they don’t expect to charge anyone for hitting the officer.
