Pedestrian struck and killed on Schuylkill Expressway

A female pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle early Sunday as she attempted to cross the Schuylkill Expressway in South Philadelphia, according to Pennsylvania State Police.A man was driving to work about 1:35 a.m. when his vehicle struck the pedestrian in the eastbound lanes near 26th Street, state police said. Few details of the incident were available Sunday, but a preliminary investigation determined that the pedestrian was at fault, according to a state police spokesman.The identities of the driver and pedestrian were not released.
