Moline, IL : Woman injured in Mercer County crash on Friday, January 7th 2017

A two-vehicle accident in Mercer County on Friday hospitalized one person.

Mercer County Sheriff's Department responded to a 12:24 p.m. crash near Viola, according to a department news release.

Michael T. Carlson, 31, of Macomb, was traveling north on US 67 when his Toyota Corolla crossed the center line and struck a Hyundai Accent driven by Cynthia A. Wildermuth, 67, of Silvis, police said.

Ms. Wildermuth was extricated from her vehicle and transported to Unity Point - Trinity Hospital, Rock Island, for injuries to her leg and wrist, according to the release. Her status is not known.

Mr. Carlson was not injured. He was cited for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

The Viola Police Department, Viola Fire Department and Genesis Ambulance Service assisted.
