Rutland,VT : Arrest made after Route 7 crash on December, Tuesday 5th 2017

Police said a Williamstown man was arrested after rearending a Rutland woman on Route 7 Tuesday morning.

Vermont State Police said Bess Lovett, 59, was trying to turn her 2011 Lexus H25 left onto McKinley Avenue when Van Bennett, 47, ran his 2003 Acura CL into her car from behind.

Police said the Acura sustained moderate contact damage and was towed from the scene, while the Lexus sustained minor rear-bumper damage and was driven away. Neither driver reported any injuries, according to State Police.

Police said Bennett was found at fault in the crash, and that they also learned he had an active arrest warrant out of Orange County for failing to appear for a court hearing in April.

Police said the warrant only called for them to cite Bennett, which they did.

He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 13.
