HASKELL COUNTY, OK : Checotah assistant police chief injured in crash on February, Sunday 11th 2018
Assistant Chief of Checotah Police Justin Durrett is awaiting surgery Sunday night after being ejected from his vehicle.
According to a Facebook post by the Haskell County Sheriff's Department, a deputy responded to a single-vehicle crash near Beaver Mountain Road and State Highway 71 around 6 a.m. Sunday to find Durret trapped under his car.
Deputy Misty Johnson stayed by Durret's side until he was taken to a Tulsa Hospital, the Sheriff's Department said.
"Assistant Chief Durrett is stable with multiple neck fractures and is currently awaiting surgery," officials said. "He is a 13 year veteran of the Checotah Police Department and a father of two children."
