TEHAMA COUNTY, CA : Crash on Highway 36 leaves man dead on Friday, 6th September 2024

A two-vehicle crash left a man dead this afternoon, the CHP said.The CHP said around 2:20 p.m. they were dispatched to the crash on Highway 36 at Paynes Creek.

The CHP said the investigation revealed a man was driving a Nissan eastbound on Highway 36 west of Paynes Creek. Meanwhile, a man was driving a tractor-trailer combo westbound on Highway 36 west of Paynes Creek.

For unknown reasons, the Nissan traveled left into the westbound lane. The driver of the tractor-trailer attempted to avoid the crash; however, the vehicles collided and both vehicles subsequently caught fire.
