Victoria, TX : Two people injured in US 87 head-on collision on Friday morning, April 8, 2016

Two drivers collided head-on after one fell asleep at the wheel about 1 mile south of Nursery on Friday morning.

Victoria resident Jeb Houston Jones, 26, fell asleep about 9:50 a.m. while traveling north on U.S. Highway 87, said Trooper Ruben San Miguel, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety.

Jones' black 2011 Chevrolet pickup crossed the center median and into two lanes of oncoming traffic before colliding head-on with another driver.

The other driver, 56-year-old John Charles Brewer, of Cuero, was driving a maroon 2005 Dodge pickup in a southbound lane of the highway.

He was towing a piece of farm equipment.

As a result of the collision, Jones and his pickup rolled over one-and-a-half times before coming to rest on the highway.

Both southbound lanes were blocked by his vehicle.

Jones was transported to DeTar Hospital Navarro with non-life-threatening injuries.

Brewer was transported to Citizens Medical Center with a broken arm.
