Gallup, NM : California man dies, another injured in single-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 in northern New Mexico on Tuesday, December 22, 2015
A California man is dead and another was seriously injured after the vehicle they were riding in crashed on a New Mexico interstate.
New Mexico State Police say the accident happened shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 40 just west of Gallup.
Twenty-five-year-old Joshi Sangam, of Hesperia, was traveling westbound when his car drifted off the right side of the roadway for an unknown reason.
Authorities say the vehicle went through a guardrail before hitting a dirt embankment.
They say a passenger, 26-year-old Baljinder Singh of Van Nuys, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sangam was also injured and taken to a hospital.
His condition was not immediately known Wednesday morning.
The crash remains under investigation.
