Harrisburg, PA : Driver escapes fiery Route 33 crash unhurt on Saturday, February 4th 2017
A driver escaped serious injury when she lost control of her car along Route 33, struck a guide rail and the vehicle erupted into flames in Palmer Township.
Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast identified the driver as Heidi M. DeWitt, 31, of Wind Gap. Police said DeWitt at 1:13 p.m. Saturday lost control of her 2001 Ford Focus while southbound on the highway between the Route191 and Tatamy Road interchanges.
After striking the guide rail, DeWitt traveled back into the left lane and the Ford caught fire, according to state police. DeWitt managed to escape and refused medical treatment at the scene for a minor injury, according to state police.
Troopers said DeWitt was wearing a seat belt.
