CADDO PARISH, LA : Bus driver dies after getting hit by car in Caddo Parish on Monday, 19th September 2016

A Caddo Parish Schools bus driver has died after getting hit by a car Monday morning. It happened just after 6:30 in the 12,000 block of Mansfield Road.

A spokeswoman for the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office says 58-year-old Karen Scroggins woman was reportedly crossing Mansfield Road to get to her bus and start her route when she was hit by a Toyota Tercel traveling northbound.

"On her way to her bus to do her job. She was struck in the meantime and killed," said Caddo Parish School Transportation Supervisor Otis Jones.

The school board was notified about the crash and someone else picked up the Scroggins' route, according to deputies on the scene.

Spokeswoman for Caddo Parish schools Mary Wood said Scroggins was a 14-year-veteran bus driver and was one of the lead drivers for Caddo Magnet High and the Career Center.
