KEARNS, UT : 1 dead, 2 others injured in crash near 5850 S. 5600 West on Friday, 28th August, 2020

One woman died and two others suffered serious and critical injuries in a crash on Friday night near 5850 S. 5600 West, Unified police said.

Unified officers were with a 26-year-old woman in front of Jefferson Junior High School for a keep the peace call, UPD Sgt. Melody Cutler said.

About 8 p.m., after meeting with police, the woman attempted to leave the school going northbound on 5600 West.

However, she did not see a southbound car approaching and it T-boned her vehicle.

A 36-year-old mother and her 14-year-old daughter were in the southbound vehicle.

The impact killed the mother despite officers performing CPR and her daughter suffered serious injuries.

The 26-year-old woman also suffered critical injuries and was transported to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.

Cutler said there was no evidence impairment was a factor in the crash.
