A 6-year-old in Kershaw County was taken to the hospital after being involved in an ATV crash Sunday.

Troopers say incident happened on private property on River Road in Kershaw County at about 1 p.m. Sunday.

Lcpl. David Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol tells WIS the child was riding the ATV with an adult when it got stuck. As an adult attempted to free the vehicle, Jones says the child hit the gas, causing it to hit an unknown object and overturn.

Jones says the child was ejected and trapped under the ATV.

The child was taken to a hospital in Richland County. The child's condition has not been released.

Kershaw County EMS and Kershaw County Fire also responded to the scene of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the SCHP.
