Victoria,TX : Yoakum resident identified in Sunday crash on July, Sunday 2nd 2017

The name of the driver who was killed after his vehicle rolled over about 4:31 p.m. Sunday on SH 111 East near County Road 407 has been released.

Ray Charles Anderson, 55, of Yoakum, was traveling east on SH 111 in a 2008 Nissan pickup, said Sgt. Ruben San Miguel, of the Department of Public Safety.

Anderson drifted across the solid centerline, then swerved to the right to re-enter the lane and overcorrected, San Miguel said.

The overcorrection caused him to lose control of the pickup, go into a side skid, cross oncoming traffic and go into the grassy shoulder on the north side of SH 111.

"The vehicle overturned and spun around, coming to a rest on its top facing south," San Miguel said.

Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:56 p.m. by Hallie Hall, Lavaca County Justice of the Peace.

The crash occurred almost 3 miles outside Yoakum.

"The reason (for the crash) is still under investigation," San Miguel said.
